"Need help with fighting. I can train you to become a better fighter. But I'll be going." Anna stood up and walked off towards James to make sure he was ok. And to let him know how thankful she was that he saved her.

“I think that I have enough on my plate as is for now. But thanks anyway” Lyric spoke, deciding that it was time to go to see how Saskia was doing, if they would allow her to...She started to walk through the tent, past the injured and through to some of the operating tents. The smells of chemicals filled the air, hitting her nostrils strongly. She almost felt as if she’d have to hold her breath for the mere strength of the smell.
James just felt like a look around as he left the tent. His hearing had virtually returned to him, except for a consistent ringing in his ears that seemed about to drive him crazy. It was a huge room that they were in with at least 200 people housed there. He had never had any idea that so many lived here before, then again he had no idea that that many were alive either. He had a mental note to approach Jacob soon, there would be some questions he’d like answered...

Anna cought up to him. "James?" Anna was waiting for him to realise that she was there. She didn't want to keep talking if he can't hear her. "James?" Her voice still wasn't back to normal and it hurt for her to breath and talk but she pushed threw it.

James heard his voice being called on the second try and turned to see Anna catching up to him. “Yeah?” he asked, hiding his surprise in seeing her by continuing to walk, but allowing her to walk with him. “What’s up?” he asked a little louder than he would usually talk. The medic said that the mild loss of hearing would subside within a few hours at the most and that he was lucky they hadn’t been closer to the explosion of the digger or they’d have been fried. He didn’t care though, instead he looked down at Anna. She looked uncomfortable in some way and he wondered what it was about.

"Why did you save me? And tell me the truth. I don't want some around the bush thing. I want the truth." Anna walked with him looking at him. She wanted to know something she got the answer. She would keep asking tell she did.

James thought about it for a moment as they continued to walk slowly. “Not many people here have families.” he begun. “It’s every person for themselves out here...If I didn’t, who would have?”
It was true. He had been the closest to her at the time and despite how furious she had made him, if he hadn’t gone to protect her, she could have died. Every single day was a risk knowing that you might die, or one of your loved ones could die. It was always best to keep a distance from everyone you could...right?

"What and I thought you hated me." Annas voice was calm and warm sounding. Not the normaly edgy cold tone it was. Anna looked in his eyes. "But thank you for saveing me. No one has ever protected me in my whole life. Not even my own father did." Anna gave a half smile.

“The feeling was mutual.” James spoke airily. It didn’t seem a big deal to him, many people had saved his life on more than a few occasions before. He recalled one particular time that even Chris had helped him out of a problem once, but he didn’t want to get into that just now of all times.
He didn’t know, or even pretend to know what was going to happen next. With him, with the gang, that Jacob character, even Anna. But he knew whatever did happen with anything, he’d be going for it. No fear was the key to survival; his survival.
The room seemed so bright as they walked around the room. Back at their old home, there had been minimal lighting. Everything had been cold. It had been like living in a prison.
Life was like a prison now. With all of the control the government had over them it may as well be. Everyone was living in a constant fear and he knew that Lyric was convinced that there would be another purge jut like last time. If the govt found them again it would be a close certainty.
People by the hundreds were killed in a single hit the day of the last purge three years ago. It was the previous leader that had helped himself, Lyric, Chris and a few of the other escape to the infirmary where they hid for four days before the gas settled and it became safe to come out of hiding and a further week for them to dispose of the bodies...they had to create a large bonfire to cremate them before just allowing the ashes to wash through the sewers. It was only the leader that had a proper burial, for without him, they’d never have survived in the first place.

Jacob walking into the operating tent after Saskia was taken in there, he smiled at Samantha as she walked over strapping on some rubber gloves, she gave Jacob a quick smile before turning to her patient, carefully she cut open the shirt and inspected the arm her face was grim as she did so and she looked back at Jacob.
“I cant save this Jake, either it comes off or she is going to have a dead weight on her right side for the rest of her life”
Jacob nodded he had been waiting for it, he knew the way Samantha worked by now and had sort of guessed it would come down to this the second he saw her arm, man Summer was going to be crushed.
“Do what you have to do Sam, we got more after this one”
Samantha nodded and set about removing the useless arm, it was a bloody job but by the end of it the stump was neatly stitched and wrapped, and Saskia was moved to the recovery tent a blanket around her to keep her warm.
Jacob walked out of the tent and nearly ran into Lyric who was heading toward the operating tents.
“Sorry”
He said quickly stepping back a bit.

Lyric could hear the sound of movement in the tent as she pulled back the entrance and went to enter. As she stepped in, she felt something bump into her and she looked down to look into the face of Jacob. “Wait a second here.” she took a brief look around, seeing a bloody operating table and to the side, wrapped up delicately and placed discretely to the side, was something very long, and very bloody wrapped up in a bandage and a plastic bag. Lyric shuddered, realizing what it was.
“How is she?” her voice was low, the sympathy she was feeling was clear in her tone as she looked over at the bed where she lay, the stump of an arm was laid over the sheet. This would be a difficult thing to bear in the future she as sure. But something that she was willing to help with. Saskia was one of her people too and whether she accepted it or not, Lyric was her leader.

"You remind me a lot of him. My brother that is. I really don't think he is alive but there is always a ting of hope that he is. And it is every person for there selfs now. Trust me I know. Right now it is only time for loveing ones self. But for kids like me. I don't know what love it. And why am I telling you this hell if I know. You just seam like someone who would understand." Anna looked up at him. She hoped he understood.

James wasn’t exactly sure why Anna was opening up like she was, but he was trying to learn patience. “Like I said, your welcome but it was just something that had to be done.” he spoke and after a moment, he added. “The only person I have here who even comes close to holding a place in my heart is my sister Lyric, and even then...well. You’d understand if you were here a little longer but she and I don’t always see eye to eye.”
He admittedly felt a little sorry for it but it was his way. It could only turn out bad if someone got to close to you...bad for them.

"Be thankful to have any family at all. Be thankful you know what love towards another is. be thankful your alive. Only thing I have to be thankful for is being alive and with my temper it will get the best of me some day and be the end of me." Anna when she wanted to open up to someone she would. She would open all the way up and just show how weak she was.

“I am thankful for a lot of things. Life is one of them.” James said, looking directly at Anna now, his tone was serious. “The last purge was three years ago. Hundreds were killed off as if they were as insignificant as flies in one go. Gasses swept throughout all of these sewers, driving whoever did survive the purge, into the streets where they were killed anyway by the military. Lyric, Chris, Saskia, and I were four, out of about 30 that were saved out of those hundreds that weren’t. We were saved by one man, who was killed trying to get us all to a safe haven. Now, because of the raid just happened, 20 out of that 30 are dead and we are still living... So yes, that’s why I am grateful to be alive, because someday we might not be as fortunate.”
He spoke, deciding to leave out the part of Lyrics leadership being passed to her just an hour before the leader had died. Why hadn’t it been him? He would have made a fine leader. He knew that why couldn’t anyone else see that too? Someday he’d be the leader...

"My father was one of the ones killed during the last purge. I was on the run then but I knew he was too dence to hide. I don't care for him. He made me what I am a cold, heartless killer. He never loved, he thougth of me as a thing a wepon, not a person." Annas voice was back to being cold and unkind. Her crystal blue eyes were cold. "He made me into a monster." Anna wispered the last line. She doubt he heard her. It was mainly said for her self.
