Lyric James Chris“Someone wanna turn up the heater?” Chris commented through chattering teeth. A trickle of red blood slide down his forehead and the side of his nose.
“If I could, I would,” Lyric pulled the collar of her coat up higher as the train swung around a corner and darkness engulfed the dimly lit carriages. The dreadlocked woman looked uncomfortable sitting upon the seats that looked as if they could crash through the floor at any moment..
“The father we travel into the labyrinth, the lower the average temperature,” a masculine voice spoke through the darkness, waving off her inquiry with an easy air. Chris identified the voice instantly as that of James, Lyrics older brother.
“How far do you suppose we’ve gone?” Chris looked around the convoy.
“It is difficult to say...” the gruff voice answered after some thought.
“I don’t care as long as we find some place warm soon,” Lyric muttered, her breath coming out in a white mist in front of her.
“Why? Do you have somewhere to be?” Chris glanced back.
“Cute, Chris” Lyric remarked dryly as she rested her chin on her fist, “but we can’t make camp in a terrain like this. Half of what’s left of us would freeze to death.”
“Patience is the key, sister,” came the voice of James, the tall dreadlocked man nodded definitively.
“Yeah,”Lyric muttered rolling her eyes.
“Ooh, careful there, Lyric, that almost looked like subordination or whatever it is you types call it,” Chris twitched his mustache.
“Watch it, Pontius,” Liliana glared back. “You’re on thin ice as it is.”
“You’re tellin’ me...” Chris muttered thrusting his hands into his pockets. Even through the gloves they were freezing.
The convoy once again turned a corner and started to slow down slightly as it began to approach it’s destination, and eventually came to a complete stop at an underground station. Picking up any rucksacks of equipment or booty, the small gang departed the carriage to the old station where they quickly, and quietly made their way through a large man hole that led into a selection of larger tunnels leading towards their destination.
If the start of the expedition had seemed tainted with disaster, the trend seemed to continue as they moved on. With snakes, spiders, the rows and rows of identical tunnels, or the constant thread of the ground literally dropping out beneath them. All of it took time. Time they really didn’t have with their diminished supplies.
It took at least half an hour before they managed to find another main tunnel that cleared their entrance into the main tunnel leading into the labyrinth. Much of the roof had collapsed from the roof many years ago, lodging bits of wood and brick around the walls, making it a tight squeeze to get through. “Do you think we should signal for the others yet?” Chris spoke airily as he strolled through the gap. “We’ll be getting close to the security system soon, and I for one don’t feel like getting blown to bits.”
“You’re right.” Lyric said with a huff, she took a small remote box from her belt and clicked in a 6 digit code, causing a red light at the top of the remote to flash green. “Sentry, do you copy?” she said, pressing on another button at the side of the device. “This is Lyric Rocio requesting access into the labyrinth.” she paused. “Let us in, fools!”

Saskia
Saskia stood inside the entrance of the labyrinth it was a little cold but her black jacket was keeping her kind of warm, it was her turn to play sentry, she wasn’t normally stuck doing this as she was the medical officer but she was the only one not busy and the normal sentry had other things he had to do for the moment.
Leaning against the wall the remote box tucked into the pocket of her ragged jeans she was growing more and more bored she wanted to be out there fighting the government not standing around waiting for the rebels to come and they were far and few between when they did. With a sigh she stretched her neck slightly as it was growing slightly stiff.
Her thoughts turned to her sister, she had turned to the government and Saskia was outraged at her for doing it, she couldn’t believe her twin could go that way but then again Summer had always been a softer type of person then she was and thus she had taken the easy way out, being able to walk the surface freely.
Saskia was suddenly snapped out of her thoughts as she heard the remote in her pocket crackle into life and she whipped it out listening to the message she rolled her eyes that was so typical of the rebels to get impatient right away. Pressing a few buttons she raised her remote box to her mouth slightly and spoke clearly.
“This is Sentry, We copy you Lyric, Who is amongst your group?”
She asked releasing the button and letting the remote drop back to her side as she awaited the reply.

Lyric heard the crackling on the other line and held it to her face once more to reply. “Co-mechanic, James Rocio. Gunsman, Chris Pontius. All three of us are safe and accounted for, with supplies so if you want them, let us in Saskia.”
Lyric was, by rights, not always a very patient woman. In any sense of the word. When it came to her group, she did try. But there was only so many times a person could go over something, before they couldn’t take it anymore. It was her responsibility as the leader.
She looked over to the others. Her brother, as tall and gangly as she in appearance stood lips pursed and just as impatient as she was to get in, although he didn’t voice this. And Chris, standing at just over 5’8”. The shaggy haired 27 year old was as equally indifferent at the situation as the other two were impatient. He was of some concern at times with his lax standards of responsibility, but they could be improved.
She felt a droplet of water fall from the roof and a distant squeal of a rat as she stood there, awaiting the familiar creak of the door opening, allowing them access into the quarters.

Saskia
Saskia grinned she knew the leader had a somewhat short fuse and nodded knowingly to herself she could be like that at times, she raised the remote again and spoke into it a smile on her features for once, it wasn’t very often in happened but it softened her features, as the smile spread to her orbs.
“Ok, ok don’t blow a gasket Lyric, you know as well as I do we have to be sure”
She spoke into the remote before she picked up another and punched in the combination and stood back as the door swung open accompanied with its all too familiar creaking sound, Saskia stood back to let the others through the smile disappearing from her face as quickly as it had arose she wasn’t one to smile much and it never lasted for long, it just wasn’t her scene what could she say, she preferred to blend into the shadows and not be noticed.
Saskia knew how impatient she got when the sentry’s kept asking questions and she often walked through the door resisting the urge to pull out the Katana strapped to her belt and threaten them but she knew that wouldn’t do her any good and always continued to walk.
The familiar feel of the weapon at her side comforted her as she waited to close the door behind the trio, god this was a boring job.

“I do know Saskia.” Lyric said flatly as she entered and the other two followed behind. She stopped beside the teen as the door closed and they heard the loud, familiar ‘clunk’ of it locking behind them. James was quick to depart for his station with the mechanics, while Chris hung back slightly, eavesdropping briefly as he usually did before giving Saskia a short salute and heading with a confident stride towards the racks.
“I know you don’t like Sentry duty either, but we have got to pull our weight in everything. How else are we going to survive down here?” she looked at the teen seriously. Knowing if there was another raid, or even another purge warning, they had to be prepared.
“James was going to take next Sentry shift so if you want, you can come up with us again next time we surface.” she then offered a little more lightly.

Saskia
After they had all entered Saskia punched in a few more numbers and the door swung shut with a creak and a clunk it stayed still and silent as Lyric walked up to where Saskia stood.
Saskia noticed as Chris hung back for a moment to eavesdrop but soon gave up and left. She looked at Lyric as she stood in front of her lecturing her about the importance of the sentry job and Saskia remained quiet until she was finished though she was bursting to interrupt her quite a few times.
“Firstly I know we have to pull our weight and incase you hadn’t noticed I have been, and Secondly, I was just doing the job right, if I let in everyone who put on a voice and said they were Lyric we wouldn’t have this place, now unless you have some other trumped up complaint about me that I will easily contradict then you might want to go and let me do my sentry work”
She said to Lyric, Saskia didn’t even bother commenting on her last offer she knew it wouldn’t stand true anyway there was no point in getting her hopes up about leaving this hell hole anytime soon, Lyric ran the show and unless you were on the right side of Lyric you didn’t get anything and Saskia had a way of getting on Lyric’s wrong side very easily, she didn’t even have to try.

Lyric looked down at Saskia. Her little outburst wasn’t uncommon and she had learnt just to deal with it. Pulling her long dreads out of her face and back behind her neck, she leant down slightly to Saskia’s level, as if you would a child. “It’s my job to think as both the rebels and the government would Saskia. Since the last purge wiped out half of our people it’s been my responsibility to keep you all safe, or have you neglected to remember that?”
She gave a quiet sigh at the thought of it brought back phantom memories. “I’m here to help everyone here, Saskia. I know that you want to help yourself but that’s not going to be enough anymore.”
Saskia had been a little trouble adjusting to the lifestyle, especially since the departure of her sister...She was a lot like James in a sense, brash and unpredictable. He could be cheery...maybe even pleasant to a degree, and then he’d turn like a rattle snake. She didn’t always mean to sound too authoritarian, she had hopes that everyone could co-exist down there, but she knew that it wasn’t going to be as easy.

Saskia
Saskia was getting more and more frustrated with Lyric especially when she started to treat her like a child as she was now, folding her arms Saskia didn’t wait for her to finished this time she interrupted before Lyric could say anymore.
“Whoa, little miss high and mighty, why don’t you climb off your little pedestal, stop treating me like a child and look around, I’m working toward the safety of everyone here, true I don’t like being sentry but I am doing it properly, or would you rather I let in every imposter that said they were one of us rather then checking, because if that’s what you would prefer then I will just leave the door open! O and for your information, I am not just looking out for me, do you see me letting every Tom, Dik and Harry in here, do you see me taking all the rations for myself, I don’t think so.”
Saskia knew she needed to get away from Lyric before she blew her top completely but she wasn’t about to walk away from her sentry duties. After this argument she knew that would do her argument any instead she placed the remote in her pocket and walked over to the wall leaning against it her arms folded over her chest.

ChrisLyric was a little taken back by Saskia’s outbursts, but undeflected non the less. “I am fully aware of that Saskia and I acknowledge your time and work put into everything you do. You are a good fighter and a strong spirited kid.”
She was aware now that there were eyes looking in on them now as voices were raised. Although they tried to prevent it looking that way. She was almost grateful as Saskia walked away and she felt her face grow warm as she looked at the others. Shje disliked being talked like that enough as it was but the fact that she was trying to do good, trying to be a good leader like the previous one had believed she could be, and yet she always felt as if she was failing at it. She walked away swiftly towards her own station and towards her camp-room. Biting back words as she walked. No one dared to speak at all as she pulled back the door and stepped inside, muttering curses of frustration as she paced the room.

Saskia
Saskia was in a mood now and she knew it sometimes people just got too her way to much and what annoyed her more then them was the fact that she did in fact let them get to her, she saw this as a weakness on her part.
Man did Saskia just want to go for a walk but until someone came to relieve her sentry duty she was stuck here standing by the door like a dork while the others went about their evening tasks, cooking dinner and eating, talking with their friends, Saskia didn’t really have friends she had a bad habit of pushing people away.

A young man with blonde and blue dreadlocks had been leaning against the back of one of the old diggers as the whole verbal tantrum had taken place. James knew his sister meant well, but did that mean that he cared? Not at all. It wasn’t his issue to deal with.
He got up as Lyric walked away and the young woman, Saskia went to a corner of her post and he walked airily towards her. “Looks like you could use some time to cool down, hot head.” he spoke casually, leaning against the door. “I’m taking over and I don’t care what my brat of a sister says about it.”
He just wanted to stop the whining that had seemed insistent on continuing the length of his migraines for the past few weeks. He didn’t care about the consequences as long as he got some rest from this madness.

Saskia
Saskia looked up as James approached and a soft smiled crossed her lips briefly but was soon wiped clear and she shook her head.
“Thanks but no thanks, I wouldn’t want her majesty to think I was skimping on my chores, it would seem just by checking to make sure it was you guys I have done wrong again”
Saskia said easily there was no point taking her frustration out on him too one screaming match was enough for today there was no need to be the cause of a second one.

James’ brow arched slightly. “It’s not going to hurt anybodies ego if you just give me the post, Saskia. No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.”
James looked her up and down. It was a shame that Saskia felt this way as she was shaping into a fine worker. The girl was obedient, and hard-working, if a bit lacking in trust, but who wasn’t these days.
“Her majesty needs to remember that she’s not everyone’s boss here. The way I see it, we make our own rules. Now are you going to give me that post or are you going to be a little sulky la-la about it?”
There was no point in sugar coating anything. There never had been any point in being nice to anyone here if you didn’t want to. No one here was your friend, they were either an enemy or a co-worker, nothing more to him.

Saskia Summer
Saskia sighed and rolled her eyes, she picked out the main door control and opened the door before passing it to him,
“Fine, but I’m going for a walk, away from this place I’ll be back sooner or later”
She said before disappearing out the door and wandering along the passageway, she needed to get away from the people there she needed to breath fresh air and she wasn’t about to stop now she was out.
Walking along the passage she found the railway and climbed on board, starting the train up she headed out, the ride was bumpy and a little uneasy with the seats feeling like they could give way at any time, finally the ride ended and Saskia climbed out of the train.
Quietly she began to make her way up toward the surface, looking out she didn’t see anyone and lifted herself out.
“What are you doing up here!”
Came an urgent voice behind her, she spun around and saw her twin sister looking back at her, Summer grabbed her arm and forced her behind a building and into the shadows.
“Whoa calm down Sum I needed some air, not that you would understand your not trapped down below.”
Summer shook her head
“Come on Sas it’s not safe up here”
“Back of Sum, just because you’re too scared to stand up for what’s right doesn’t mean other people aren’t”
Summer sighed she knew she wasn’t going to win this argument and there wasn’t much point in trying she looked at her sister for a moment and shook her head
“Man Sas you got thin”
“Yer well that happens when your stuck underground without much food between a whole load of people.”
Summer frowned and thought for a moment,
“Ok don’t go far, and don’t get caught meet me back here in an hour, I’ll see what I can find”
She said and ran off leaving Saskia standing in the shadows, she hid behind a bin as one of the government walked past.

James grinned lazily as the control was passed and he watched as Saskia left the premises. It was at her own risk going it alone. Someone had ought to track her, but as if he was going to do it, he was smarter than that.
“You’re a piece of work, I’ll give you that James-Boy.” came a mellow voice behind him. He rolled his eyes before he turned to look into the slightly older face of Chris.
“What are you snooping around for this time, Chris?” he asked dryly, arms folded across his thin chest.
“Couldn’t help but notice you let that Saskia girl out on her own. A bit risky, don’t you think?” Chris smiled. “Not only for her but on your part too, what do you think that could do for your reputation, eh?”
“You want to go after all and drag her back, be my guest. It ain’t my problem.” James shrugged, his upper lip curled slightly.
It was well known that Chris and James didn’t stick. A personality clash would have to be the better way to describe the duos relationship. They never liked each other, and simply never would.
Chris smiled, before taking the control and clicking the code to open the door. The code was changed daily for security purposes and only a handful of people were told. “I’ll be back before sundown then.” he spoke before stepping out into the labyrinth and heading towards the surface.
